10, 2008 - Caffeine - Performance Enhancement or Hindrance?
As opposed to many energy drinks, Teen Fuel does not contain caffeine.

Athletes have taken advantage of the energy boosting effect of caffeine
for years - to the point that caffeine's well recognized stimulant
effects were at one time put on the list of banned drugs.
However, excessive intakes of caffeine greater than 500 mg/day (or
smaller doses in caffeine sensitive individuals) may experience irritability,
muscle tremors, nausea, nervousness, anxiety, insomnia, headaches
and diarrhea. Not one of these side effects are good for an athlete's
performance during training and competition.

4, 2008 - Inner City Kids Basketball
Clarus Canadian Springs is pleased to announce their support for the
Inner City Kids Basketball Program. The goal of the project is to
give kids a chance to have fun playing basketball without the need
for structured or league play, all the while getting exercise and
improving self-confidence. The project is run entirely by volunteers
and funded by individual donations.
For this group of players and their head coach Bob Axworthy, it's
a journey that takes them into the inner city where every Friday where
they share their love of basketball with a 10-year-old girls team
from Magnus Eliason Recreation Centre.
"It's not good enough to just read about the inner city in the
Free Press and how tough it is for many kids there. I decided I need
to do something and what I have (to offer) is basketball," said
Axworthy.
